Make Fun and Trendy Cake Pops in Your Own Kitchen

If you are “in the know” when it comes to crafty confections, you have certainly seen those little tasty treats known as “cake pops” at some of your favorite bakeries, coffee shops, cafes and restaurants. Though they look as if they were quite complicated, they actually are quite easy to make. In fact, you can make cake pops right in the comfort of your own home, even if you are new to baking. Here’s what you need to know about making cake pops right in your own kitchen:

Gather Your Tools
In order to make cake pops as easy as possible for you, you will want to make sure that you have the right tools. For instance, you will need a cake pop mold, or cake pop pans available. There are actually quite a few out there and you can get them in a wide range of designs. To make it easy, silicone cake pop pans are best. In addition to your cake pop mold or pans, you will also need to gather cake pop sticks, a cake pop stand and if you want to be really fancy, a supply of cake pop bags. Of course, you should also have cake mix, frosting or the materials to make your own. You will also want decorations if you want to go the extra mile.

Making the Cake Pops
Essentially the rest is fairly easy. You will mix up your cake batter and pour it into your pans. Most pans will have a top and a bottom, so don’t forget to put the top on before you put them in the oven. Check on them as they are baking, just so you don’t overdo it. Once they are baked, take them out and stick them in the refrigerator. You want to make sure the cake is cool so you can decorate. Many people will, at this point, put them on sticks…if it is easier for you not to, based on your decorating, you can always do it later.
As far as decorating your cake pops, once they are cool, the sky is the limit. You will find that you can do almost anything with these pops, just make sure you get them in the stand and let them cool off completely before you wrap them in the bags, which is your final step.
